The co-founders

An unbreakable partnership is often behind many success stories: two contrasting characters whose skills and personalities fit together just right. Methodical is no different. Co-founders Matt and Ben began working together in 2007 and have been inseparable ever since.

Matt is an internationally-renowned author, speaker and consultant on customer experience and strategy.

He won the CMI’s Management Book of the Year for his first book, The Ten Principles Behind Great Customer Experiences, has been cited and interviewed by the world’s leading research firms, and as a speaker has addressed industry leaders worldwide.

Matt is a Senior Visiting Fellow at Cass Business School, London and sits on the board of two other companies.

Ben Smith

Ben has worked in design since 2000, when he finished his studies at ENSCI, an industrial design school in Paris.

He has undertaken projects for The UK National Lottery, Home Retail Group, Microsoft, lastminute.com, and Transport for London, where he led experience design for their growing portfolio of mobile applications.

Ben’s absurd attention to detail means he is responsible for final quality checks on every major deliverable. Lucky him.

Katherine is a strategy and change specialist. 

Previously a consultant at Dunnhumby, the leading customer data science company, she has worked with some of the world’s leading retailers and brands, helping them refine their operations and become more customer-centric. 

Katherine holds an MBA from Cass Business School in London.

Meg’s career started in environmental science, but she branched out into experience design and has since helped online recruitment companies, translators, luxury retailers, pharmaceutical companies and pet food manufacturers better serve their customers.

She part-owns a bar in Edinburgh that it’s probably safest she lives several thousand miles from. She was also Methodical’s first employee.

Market research

Anne is an authority on market research. She is the author of Strategic Market Research: A Guide to Conducting Research that Drives Businesses, and is CEO of Beall Research Inc. — our research partners.

Anne specializes in large-scale, complex strategic studies for Fortune 500 companies, and has conducted research on brand positioning and equity, loyalty and switching behavior, new propositions and customer segmentation.

Arahi has worked in design and user experience for over 18 years. Initially with London incubators and start-ups, he later headed up UX for the UK’s largest online recruitment business, Stepstone UK (née Totaljobs Group). After helping them become the biggest player in the UK — leading a team of 14 UX professionals — he returned to his native New Zealand so that he could combine UX projects with sparkling wine tours — a natural fit.

While Arahi and Ben met in Paris in 2000, Ben already knew him from his drumming gigs in the 90s.

Arthur has over fifteen years’ experience in digital branding, interaction, visual and product design. His painstaking eye for detail causes him to break out in cold sweats if a color is the wrong hex value.

He has produced award-winning work for the world’s most prestigious design agencies and brands such as Vodafone, Moving Brands, Sony, Ogilvy and National Geographic to name a few.

We recently celebrated our 10 year work anniversary — a relationship that shows no signs of fading.

Claire has helped a variety of high-profile brands achieve a better user experience, including:

Bupa, Vodafone, Tesco, Transport for London, Jaguar Land Rover, Electrolux, PRS for Music, and Pottermore.

Matt helped Claire land her first major user experience contract back in 2011. She has been making him feel inferior ever since.

David is a strategic designer who has worked with brands like Tods, Esprit, and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as helping startups and entrepreneurs execute branding and design projects that are vital to their business success.

David also has an entrepreneurial streak, co-founding tech-startup Projectly and jeans brand Blue Rebel.

He strongly believes that the economy of the future belongs to mission-driven businesses, making him a perfect fit for Methodical.

She has worked as an occupational therapist, streamlining processes and systems for individuals and communities so they can go on their merry independent ways. A working mother of three, she is highly organized and excellent at identifying and prioritizing opportunities.
